Hyung Cho named Ontario Blue Jays' infield coordinator

The Ontario Blue Jays have hired former national team member and coach Hyung Cho (Toronto, Ont.) to be their infield coordinator.

The Ontario Blue Jays are excited to announce the addition of Hyung Cho as Infield Coordinator.

Hyung grew up in Toronto area, playing for the Ontario Blue Jays and the Canadian Junior National Team before accepting a scholarship to the University of Houston where he played from 2000-2003. During his time in a Cougar uniform he received numerous accolades including: Conference USA All-Freshman, Honourable Mention Collegiate Baseball All-American, NCAA Regional at Mesa All-Tournament Team, NCAA Regional at College Station All-Tournament Team, First-Team All-Conference USA, Second Team NCAA All South Central Team and First-Team Baseball America Summer All-American Team.

During the summer months, Hyung played in the highly regarded Cape Cod Baseball League for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox where he was a two-time All Star Selection and First-Team All Cape Cod League. After college, Cho signed professionally with the Seattle Mariners and spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league affiliates in addition to the Canadian Senior National Team.

After returning home, Hyung was apart of the seven-time IBL Championship winning Brantford Red Sox of the Intercounty Baseball League.

Hyung began his coaching career in 2010 with the Canadian Junior National Team as a Hitting Coach and Infield Coach for Greg Hamilton and worked alongside current Director of Player Development & Personnel, Corey Eckstein from 2010 to 2013. Cho returned to the Junior National Team from 2016 to 2019 in the same role. In addition, Cho has been a Tournament 12 Coach since its inception in 2013. Hyung most recent affiliation was with the Toronto Mets as their Infield Coordinator, 16U Manager and Director of Player Development.
