IBL playoffs: Jackfish trounce Baycats 13-1 in third game of finals

WELLAND, Ont. – After scoring six runs through the first two games of the Dominico Cup final, the Welland Jackfish’s offence came to life in Tuesday’s 13-1 Game 3 win over Barrie.
The Baycats lead the best-of-seven series 2-1 and host Game 4 Wednesday.
Sam Cawker went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in the win. Carlos Martinez slammed a pinch-hit, three-run blast and Steven Moretto hit his sixth home run of the playoffs, a solo shot in the second inning. James Smibert went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Matteo Porcellato picked up a pair of hits, and Gianfranco Morello, Hogan Brown and Tyler Dupuis all drove in a run.
Welland pitcher James Bradwell struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings for the win. He gave up one hit and didn’t issue a walk.
Victor Plaz scored Barrie’s run on an error in the top of the eighth.
Jeifry Nunez took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over 1 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out one.
