Official Barrie Baycats News Release

BARRIE - One of the top players from the 2018 and 2019 Barrie Baycats teams is returning for the 2022 season.

Starlin Rodriguez, who suited up for a total of 80 games for the team in those two years, is expected to play a combination of infield and outfield roles in his return. In his Baycats career (counting both regular season and postseason games), Rodriguez owns a .329 batting average with 10 home runs and 72 RBIs.

"Starlin has had some great years with the Baycats and we are excited for him to return and add to our deep lineup," said Baycats president Josh Matlow. The Baycats have also placed outfielder Avery Tuck on the inactive list.

The Baycats officially open their season on Thursday, May 19 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Vintage Throne Stadium.
