BRANTFORD, ON - The Brantford Red Sox have signed Dean Christidis for the 2022 season.
He is a 22-year-old left handed pitcher from Markham, Ont. He played with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues from 2017 to 2021 where he was a Mental Health Studies major.
In the 2021 regular season, he logged 25 1/3 innings, striking out 36 while posting a 0.36 ERA. The undefeated 2021 Varsity Blues would go on to win the OUA Championship, with Christidis striking out 11 and earning the win in Toronto's semifinal victory over Western. For his efforts, he was named OUA most valuable pitcher and an OUA All Star as starting pitcher.
Christidis is also a member of Greece's national baseball team. He made his Greek national team debut in the 2019 European Championship in Bulgaria where he won the Most Valuable Pitcher award.
The Brantford Red Sox were founded in 1911 and have won 15 Intercounty Baseball League titles.
