Official Guelph Royals News Release
GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Royals have announced that infielder Josh Garton has re-signed for the 2024 season.
Garton, 36, hit .310 with three home runs in 17 games in 2023 after missing the start of the season with an injury.
In the playoffs, the former Cincinnati Reds prospect hit two home runs in 17 at-bats for the Royals.
Garton (Guelph, Ont.), who will enter his seventh season with the Royals and his ninth season in the IBL when the Royals take to the field in May, said he is pumped to return.
"I'm so happy that I'm able to play another season with the Royals and under the care of Dino Roumel and Shawn Fuller. I love giving back to the community that gave me the opportunity to get to the level that I did. Bleed blue! Let's bring it home this year!
Roumel said signing a bat like Garton's is big for his ball club.
"It's great to have Garts back. He is everything we want representing our team and city. He is tough, passionate, and a competitor. He is also not only an incredible person in the clubhouse who keeps everyone loose, but he is probably the strongest individual in the league. Josh is a fan favourite and a threat to hit a home run every time he steps to the plate."
