GUELPH - The Guelph Royals have signed former major league pitcher and Olympic bronze medalist Dario Alvarez.

Alvarez, a native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, has agreed to join the Royals for their 2022 campaign.

In parts of four big league seasons, the veteran southpaw’s record was 6-1 with six holds and a 5.06 ERA in 56 games between the New York Mets (2014-15), Atlanta Braves (2016), and Texas Rangers (2016-17). He tallied 61 strikeouts in 48 innings, averaging 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings.
