GUELPH - The Guelph Royals signed veteran pitchers Santos Arias and Emilis Guerrero on Friday as their roster continues to take shape in preparation for their return to play following a lengthy two-year absence due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Guerrero posted a 38-7 regular season record with a 2.69 ERA, tallying 371 strikeouts over 368 2/3 innings, while pitching for the IBL’s Barrie Baycats from 2016 to 2019 .

Arias owned a 5-2 record with the Baycats in 2019, finishing with 59 strikeouts in 66 innings.

The Royals will make their return to the IBL on Saturday, May 21 when they play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs at David E. Hastings Stadium.
