Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release
HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals have signed left-hander Edward Paredes of Villa Arriva, Dominican Republic.
The 33-year-old pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017 and 2018. With the Dodgers, Paredes posted a 3-0 record in 25 games and picked up 19 strikeouts in 16 innings.
Before making his MLB debut, Paredes spent 11 seasons in the minors, including parts of five seasons in triple-A. In 329 minor league games, Paredes owns a 39-42 record with 26 saves. He recorded 558 strikeouts in 580 innings.
"We are very happy to add a left-handed pitcher with the experience that Paredes has," said Cardinals general manager Jeff Lounsbury. "He pitched last summer in the Atlantic League and the Dominican Summer League, so even though he’s 33 he was still pitching at a high level last summer and is only four years removed from the big leagues. We feel he will solidify the backend of our bullpen and help teach our younger players."
The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
