Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release
Hamilton, Ont. - The Hamilton Cardinals are excited to announce the re-signing of standout outfielder Dennis Dei Baning for the 2024 season, marking his third year with the team.
Since joining the Cardinals, Dei Baning (Toronto, Ont.) has made significant contributions on the field, showcasing his ability to adapt and become a reliable bat.
A Humber College alumnus, Dei Baning first made waves in the 2022 season, quickly putting up impressive statistics in just six games: a slash line of .409/.500/.955, an OPS of 1.455, alongside four home runs, eight RBIs, and four walks. His performance set high expectations for the 2023 season.
Dei Baning broke out last season, appearing in all 42 games, batting .280 with 45 hits, including six home runs, and 25 RBIs, over 161 at-bats. He continued his reliability in the playoffs with a .294 average in four games, contributing five hits and two RBIs.
Dei Baning's accolades from his college days include being a two-time OCAA Champion, the 2021 OCAA Player of the Year, and a two-time OCAA League All-Star.
“We knew Dennis had the tools to compete in this league, and he left no doubt last year,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals general manager. “I’m just glad for his sake that everyone else knows, too. Dennis works hard, and he deserves a lot more recognition than he gets.”
