Official Hamilton Cardinals Press Release
HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the re-signing of four-time IBL all-star OF Justin Gideon.
Gideon is entering his sixth season in the IBL having played in 176 regular season and 28 playoff games in a row. In his 176 games, Justin is a career .348 hitter with 50 doubles, 10 triples, 30 home runs, 125 RBIs and 69 stolen bases.
“Justin is the heart and soul of the team. He plays hard and plays fast. He wears his heart on his sleeve and the pure joy he has for the game and his teammates is evident the minute you watch him play. I have so much respect for him as a player and as a young man, we are so lucky to have him back in Hamilton.” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury.
Last season was Gideon’s first as a member of the Cardinals. He hit .346 with 14 doubles, two triples, three home runs, 19 RBIs and 12 stolen bases and was again an IBL first-team all-star.
“I loved my first season as a Cardinal, and that love was only reaffirmed by how much I missed being around the team this past summer. They welcomed not only me but my fiancé as well and made us both feel a part of the family immediately,” said Gideon.
“This team has a winning culture, and you can feel that by talking to anyone involved; owners, managers, coaches, players, concession workers, and fans; there is a cohesive goal amongst all and that is to win it all. Not only is that our goal but it is our expectation, and I cannot wait to get back on the field and make it happen.”
The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
