Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed right-handed pitcher Wes Markle.

The 6-foot-6 righty, who hails from Hamilton, is coming into the 2023 season poised to take a big leap and cement himself as a key piece on the Cardinals’ staff.

“It’s not difficult to envision a projectable kid in his early 20s thriving under the right circumstance – but his separating tool is his personality,” said George Halim, Hamilton Cardinals general manager.

“I truly admire, and identify with Weston. He has his life ahead of him. I love and respect how he came about being himself – so under the right climate, I have complete faith that his competitiveness will define him. Good thing he’s a Bird.”

An Ontario Royals alum, Markle spent his 2022 college season with Indiana Tech where he put together a solid season. He made five appearances, including two starts. As a starter, Markle put up an impressive eight strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings, en route to a 2-0 record.
