Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed local infielder/outfielder Laine Renaud.

Renaud (Hamilton, Ont.) enters his fifth IBL season after reaching career-highs in hits, RBIs and batting average in 2021. Last season, Renaud hit .279 (31-for-111) with two home runs and 19 RBIs.

For his IBL career, Renaud has batted .251 (101-for-403) with 10 doubles, 11 home runs, 59 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.

“Laine is a true team player and the heart and soul of this team. He leads in the clubhouse and in the dugout,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “His desire to win and support of his teammates is unmatched. Players around the league also respect him. He gives us versatility as well, as he can play all corner infield and outfield spots, I am so happy to have Laine back in 2022.”

“I am excited to return as a Cardinal and blessed to represent my hometown,” said Renaud. “Looking forward to competing with a newer group of guys and to make a strong push for the trophy this summer.”

The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
