Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed infielder Nathan Scragg (Port Perry, Ont).

Scragg enters his second year in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) after appearing in 11 games in 2021. Scragg hit .256 (10-for-39) with three doubles, five RBIs and two stolen bases.

He is returning from Dawson Community College where he played 28 games and posted a .312 batting average with two home runs, 18 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

“Nathan is a scrappy hitter who plays solid defence and does all the small things to help your team win,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “He had some pretty good games last summer and I anticipate some improvement since he is coming off a full year of school ball and a year of IBL experience under his belt.”

Hamilton will kick off their 2022 season on the road against the Red Sox in Brantford on May 20 and against the Barrie Baycats on May 21. Their home opener will go May 22 when they host the Guelph Royals. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
