Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed catcher Jeremie Veilleux.

The Oakville, Ont., native returns after a solid rookie season and will help solidify the catching position.

Veilleux is the starting catcher at McMaster University and he helped them reach the OUA championship game this past fall.

In this rookie Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) campaign, Veilleux played in 23 games and hit .286 with a double and 11 RBIs. He also had 17 walks.

“JV did a great job last summer, he blocks and throws well. He also did a great job of getting on base for the team,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “He started the season 0-for-9, so to get up to where he ended shows very well for his potential, and what he is capable of with another year of experience. The learning curve for a rookie IBL catcher is steep and as a team, we will have three very young catchers who have all got a taste of IBL experience. We are counting on JV to show improvement and help manage our very strong team pitching.”
