Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals have signed Caden Shapiro.

Shapiro is a dual threat as a left-handed pitcher and plays OF/1B. He spent the last two summers playing for the Toronto Mets elite program and participated in Tournament 12 at the Rogers Centre. Shapiro has committed to Princeton for the fall of 2021.

“Caden has the tools to compete in the IBL even as an 18-year-old,” said Hamilton Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “This is a great opportunity for him to learn and grow as a player at the highest level against veteran competition. I look forward to helping him mature and grow."

“I am very excited to be a part of the Cardinals organization this summer,” said Shapiro. “Grateful for the opportunity to play in the IBL and I look forward to competing.”

Stay tuned to the Hamilton Cardinals and IBL website and social media for all the latest news on the return to play.

The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
