Official Hamilton Cardinals News Release

The Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed three-time IBL All-Star Chris Lazar.

The veteran left-hander returns for his sixth IBL season after graduating from the University of Sioux Falls.

In his career, Lazar owns a 17-18 record with 158 strikeouts in 266 2/3 innings. Last season, Lazar had a 3-3 record and a 4.12 ERA, while recording 41 strikeouts in 48 innings.

“We are happy to have Chris return. He is a crafty veteran lefty who gives us a chance to win each time he takes the mound,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “He competes, but also he enjoys the game and wants to win. He is also a core member of the Hamilton franchise and he wears his heart on his sleeve and wants to win in Hamilton.”

For his part, Lazar is looking forward to returning to the Cards.

“Last year didn’t really go the way we wanted and we’ve worked hard all off-season to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” said Lazar. “We know we have something to prove as an organization and I’m very confident that we will do just that. Very excited about what management has done this winter and I can’t wait until everybody else gets to see the results on the field this summer.”
