The Intercounty Baseball League’s Hamilton Cardinals have re-signed left-hander Drew Mainprize and catcher Jacob Underwood.

An Ancaster, Ont., native, Mainprize graduated from Guelph University and spent the 2022 season with the Cardinals, appearing in 16 games. In 24 1/3 innings, the 23-year-old amassed 14 strikeouts and also appeared in one game during the playoffs.

The 6-foot, 160-pound left-hander also spent time with the Brantford Red Sox during the 2021 IBL season and previously attended Carleton University, before transferring to the Guelph Gryphons.

Underwood, a Hamilton native, joined the Cardinals last summer and had a solid playoff run with the team, batting .259 in 27 at bats. He also walked seven times and drove in four runs.

The 6-foot, 220-pound left-handed hitter previously played for Brock University and the Welland Junior Jackfish. He also suited up for a few games with the IBL’s Jackfish in 2021.
