Official Intercounty Baseball League News Release

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of Pitcher Waldis Joaquan ( La Vega, DR ).

Waldis spent part of three seasons with the San Francisco Giants (2009-11). He has a career 1-0 record with 17 strikeouts in 21 2/3 Innings pitched. He has made 19 major league appearances. Waldis also spent three years in triple-A, and over his seven years of minor league baseball has a 25-28 record with 28 saves in 441 2/3 innings pitched.

After spending 2013-2016 in the Mexican League, Waldis earned another organizational look and spent 2017 in the Detroit Tigers system.

“We are so happy to have Waldis join us in 2020,” said Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury. “He will add so much to our current 10 pitchers to give us what we hope will be the best pitching staff in the IBL. Coach Castelli will have so many options and guys who can start and relief but all can throw strikes and keep hitters off balance. Hopefully, 2020 will still see a season.”

The IBL season is still two months away, so please wait for more updates from the league in the future.
