Official Kitchener Panthers News Release
The Kitchener Panthers have re-signed infielder Keegan Marsden.
The Stratford, Ont., native will return for his fourth season with the Panthers.
One of the most experienced players on the Panthers’ roster, Marsden has suited up for 140 IBL games, recording 132 hits, 26 doubles 15 home runs, 97 RBIs and a career .277 batting average.
The smooth-swinging left-handed hitting infielder returned from shoulder surgery in 2021 to set career highs in batting average (.338), on base percentage (.448), and OPS (.923).
A resident of Stratford and an Ontario Nationals alum, Marsden spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at NJCAA Kalamazoo Valley Community College (Kalamazoo, Mich.) where he was a two-time All-Conference Academic Award recipient and an All-Conference honourable mention once.
He then transferred to NCAA D2, Goldey Beacom College (Wilmington, Del.), for his final two years of eligibility. In two seasons there, Marsden recorded 88 hits, 73 runs, 11 home runs, 48 RBIs and a .416 OBP. He was a Second Team All-Conference selection in his senior season in 2018, hitting .307 with six home runs and 32 RBIs.
“Keegan is a hard worker for the Panthers and a great teammate, on and off the field,” said Panthers field manager Don Menard. “He hit .338 with a .448 on-base percentage in the regular season and he hit .667 in playoffs last year for us with many key hits along the way. With his shoulder healthy this year, I see him being versatile and contributing in many roles for us as we battle to bring home an IBL championship.”
