Official Intercounty Baseball League News Release

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of veteran shortstop Keith Kandel.

Kandel has had a successful six-year career in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) with Burlington, Kitchener, Guelph and his last three years with the Majors.

In 2018, his last season with the Majors, the Fresno, Calif., native and London resident was a defensive wizard and threat on the base paths where he had 12 stolen bases. With a career 107 stolen bases and 117 RBIs, he brings speed and run production wherever he is in the lineup.

When asked about his return to the pinstripes for the 2021 season Kandel said, “After taking the 2019 season off to focus on solidifying myself in Canada, I am excited to rejoin the London Majors for the 2021 season. I’m looking forward to playing for Roop and this historic franchise once again and hopefully, I will get to see all of the loyal Majors fans again at Labatt Park!”

“It's great to have Keith back in a Majors uniform for the upcoming season. I know he has missed the game and is excited to be back on the team. Keith brings a lot of experience and leadership to our team and I know he is working hard to come back and help the Majors for the 2021 season,” said Majors general manager, co-owner and manager Roop Chanderdat.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
