IBL's London Majors defeat Leafs, force one game playoff for first

The Intercounty Baseball League pennant will come down to a one-game playoff Wednesday night in London.

The London Majors ensured an extra game against Guelph to determine top seed entering playoffs with a 14-4 win Tuesday night in Toronto.

With the win, London (31-11) moved into a first-place tie with Guelph and Welland but held the tiebreaker based on head-to-head records. Welland will settle for third and play Kitchener in the first round.

Taylor Wright went 3-for-6 with a grand slam for the Majors. Robert Mullen went deep and had three RBIs, Jakob Newton had two hits and an RBI, while Cleveland Brownlee went 2-for-5 with a run and Starling Joseph went 3-for-6 and scored once. Byron Reichstein also went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs for the Majors, while Daniel Perrier hit his seventh home run and drove in two while also scoring twice.

Owen Boon (10-0) allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out 10.

Connor Lewis led Toronto with three hits, including an RBI and a double. Greg Carrington had three hits and an RBI and Damon Topolie drove in a run.

Zach Sloan took the loss, allowing seven runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts over two innings.

Toronto will have home-field advantage against Barrie in the first round.
