Official London Majors News Release
LONDON - The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of infielder Carlos Arteaga.
A member of the franchise since 2016, Arteaga was also apart of history with keeping the tradition of Labatt Park going this past summer playing in the Legacy Classic.
The former Fanshawe Falcon rejoined the team eight games into the 2019 season and didn’t show any rust, finishing with a career-high in hits, RBIs, triples and average.
“I would like to thank Roop and the London Majors organization for the opportunity to dress in pinstripes for one more summer,” said Arteaga. “Roop has been a great mentor on and off the field. I believe his desire to win along with his vision could be a key factor to a championship run this upcoming season. The Boys of the Summer will be ready to bring happiness to the best fans in the IBL “
Majors general manager, co-owner and manager Roop Chanderdat had a lot to say about the decision to bring back Arteaga.
“I’m very happy to have Carlos back for another season, “ said Chanderdat. “He is a hard worker and comes to the field every day looking to get better. Carlos is a very good defensive infielder and offensively has continued to show tremendous improvements at the plate which was evident in 2019 where he hit .313 in the regular season”.
The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
