IBL's London Majors re-sign Lawrence

Official London Majors News Release
The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of outfielder Drew Lawrence, a talented young player who will return for a third season – at just 20 years of age.
In 2023, Lawrence (London, Ont.) posted a solid .325 batting average with 21 runs scored and 12 RBIs in 29 regular season games. He also stole five bases. Though he saw nearly 50 fewer at-bats than his rookie season in 2022, due to injury and other commitments, he showed development at the plate last summer.
Notably, he was the only Major to walk more times (13) than he struck out (12), an impressive stat for such a young hitter in the IBL. That plate discipline could lead to him hitting at the top of the lineup.
“He competes in every at-bat,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “Drew is a talented player who continues to develop and mature with the Majors. He can play all three outfield spots, and he runs well.”
He had 10 steals in 2022. That year, when London won its second of back-to-back IBL championships, Lawrence hit .269 with 27 runs and 16 RBIs in 36 games as a rookie. And he contributed during the playoff run, too, going 5-for-14 (.357) with four RBIs in seven games en route to the Majors hoisting the championship trophy.
“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to continue to play in front of my hometown crowd and win a lot of ballgames with a great squad,” said Lawrence, who grew up attending Majors games as a youngster.
He played with the Dorchester-based Great Lake Canadians of the CPBL during his teenage years. And he’s a unique athlete, also competing as a member of the London Beefeaters, the city’s junior football team.
