Official London Majors News Release

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of infielder Tommy Reyes-Cruz, who is looking to build off a solid 2023 season and take the next step in his IBL career this summer.

A native of Montreal, Que., Reyes-Cruz batted .288 with 32 runs scored and 21 RBIs in 41 regular season games last year, his first with the Majors. He led the team in both runs and walks (23) and was second to Starling Joseph in hits (45) and doubles (11). In five playoff games, the 26-year-old hit .333 with a pair of home runs and five extra-base hits.

Though he began the year as the Majors’ third baseman, Reyes-Cruz shifted to shortstop when last year’s starter, Keith Kandel, went down with an injury. He spent most of the season at the position, showing a good glove and a strong arm. When the Majors needed it, he even made two appearances on the mound.

“Tommy is a talented player who possesses the skills to be an elite player in our league,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “Now that he has some experience in the IBL, he’s better prepared to have success this season. I’m looking for Tommy to be more consistent on the field – and also to take on more of a leadership role with the team.”

Reyes-Cruz was also a gamer last year, playing in 46 of the Majors’ 47 games overall. Among qualifiers, he was second on the team in on-base percentage (.386), trailing only Byron Reichstein. That’s a skill that he’s displayed dating back to his collegiate days with the NAIA’s Faulker Eagles.

“We have some unfinished business this year,” said Reyes-Cruz. “We’re trying to bring back a championship to London. I’m excited to play another season for the Majors with Roop and the boys.”
