Official London Majors News Release

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of pitcher Travis Keys, a talented left-hander who has succeeded at other levels and is now looking to make the jump to the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL).

Keys, a local arm who played for the London Badgers in his youth, certainly found success at the collegiate level. In 2021, pitching for the Aquinas College Saints (NAIA), the lefty posted a 2.61 ERA with 101 strikeouts over 62 innings.

That performance earned him Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year honours and led to him being named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American. He was also named to the Canadian Baseball Network’s All-Canadian College First Team.

While that was the only season he put up dominant numbers during his college career, he showed flashes of potential throughout – beginning with Lake Michigan College, a junior college, back in 2017. He made the move to the NCAA in 2018 (Grand Valley State) before missing the 2019 season and joining Aquinas College in 2020.

“Travis is a veteran lefty who competes. He’s a smart pitcher,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “He gives us another lefty option in our pitching staff.”

Though he hasn’t competed in the highest levels of ball in the region since graduating from college, the 25-year-old Keys has continued to play, including with the Ilderton RiverHawks of the Southwestern Sr. Baseball League.

“He’s had a great deal of success in college and on the local senior baseball circuit,” Chanderdat said of his new 6-foot, 215-pound lefty. “He’s looking to make the jump and take on the challenge of playing in the IBL.”

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to pitch for my hometown team this season at Labatt Park,” said Keys. “With the group Roop and the Majors are putting together this year, I’m looking forward to a successful season.”
