IBL's London Majors sign LHP Fernando Fernandez

LONDON - The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher Fernando Fernandez.

The Chateauguay, Quebec native spent last season with the Guelph Royals (IBL) and the Trois Rivieres Aigles (CanAm League). In Guelph, Fernandez threw 18 innings over three starts, striking out 18.

The 25-year-old played college ball at St. Marys University and the University of New Mexico before being drafted in 2012 by the Philadelphia Phillies.

When asked about what he looks forward to when coming to London, Fernandez had this to say: “I am looking forward to starting the season and get [this] thing rolling, the goal is to bring a championship to London and we’ll do all we can to do it”

"The addition of LHP Fernando Fernandez will definitely bolster our pitching staff.,” said Roop Chanderdat, Majors’ co-owner, GM and field manager. “I am looking forward to seeing what Fernandez can do in a full season in the IBL. Fernandez brings pro experience and a strong desire to win to our ball club.”
