Official London Majors News Release
London, Ont. - The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of infielder Tristan Osika, currently a senior at Indiana Tech University who has played three seasons of Intercounty baseball with the Hamilton Cardinals.
Osika, an Ancaster, Ont., native, is making the move to the Majors this year, where he could see time at a number of positions due to his versatility. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, he’s a good fit for first base, but he’s played other infield spots too, including second base, in his IBL career.
“Tristan is a player I can put in multiple infield positions,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “He gives us infield depth, and he’s also proven he can hit in the IBL.”
The 23-year-old former Cardinal burst onto the scene in 2021 with an 18-game sample where he hit .357 in 70 at-bats while walking more times (13) than he struck out (8). He split that season between Junior ball and the IBL’s Cardinals. In the two seasons since, Osika has combined to hit .253 in 52 IBL games, scoring 28 runs and driving in 24 during that span.
“Having played three seasons in the IBL at a young age will definitely help Tristan in his adjustment to joining a new team,” said Chanderdat.
At Indiana Tech, Osika has batted .281 in 81 games over the last two seasons. His on-base percentages have been strong (.389 in 2022, .373 in 2023). Prior to his collegiate days, he played for the Ontario Royals of the Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL).
“I’m ecstatic to be joining the Majors,” said Osika. “Over the last three summers, it’s always been exciting to play in London. The fans are amazing. They’re some of the best I’ve ever played in front of. And the stadium is beautiful. I’m excited to be a Major and to get to work.”
