Official London Majors News Release

The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of infielder Victor Plaz, who joins the team with previous IBL experience with the Barrie Baycats – and a connection to fellow Majors infielder Tommy Reyes-Cruz.

In London, Plaz (Montreal, Que.) will get the chance to reunite with his friend. The pair both grew up in Quebec and played ball together in La Belle Province. After playing against each other last year in the IBL, they’ll be teammates in 2024 – and perhaps play beside each other in the infield.

Plaz, 24, can play both corner infield spots, and he’s looking to establish himself as a full-time contributor at the IBL level. In 26 regular season games with the Barrie Baycats in 2023, he batted .307 (23-for-75) with eight extra-base hits, 17 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

“Victor is another one of our new additions that I believe can have a big impact with our team this season,” said Roop Chanderdat, the Majors’ GM and field manager. “He will get an opportunity at both first and third base. He’s a young man that wants to prove himself in this league.”

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Plaz, who hails from Montreal, Que., began his collegiate career on the junior college circuit but then played in the NAIA in 2022 (Central Methodist University) and for NCAA Division II Upper Iowa University in 2023.

At his final stop, he batted .271 with a .388 on-base percentage in 28 games for the Peacocks. He displayed pop as a senior, as 10 of his 23 hits went for extra bases – including five home runs. He’s hoping to ride that momentum, as well as his success with the Baycats, to earn a prominent role with the London Majors.

“I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and playing with my boy Tommy Reyes-Cruz,” said Plaz. “I want to thank Roop and the Majors for believing in me and giving me this opportunity with London.”
