Official London Majors News Release

LONDON - The London Majors are happy to announce the signing of right-handed pitcher Jose Vasquez.

From Cambridge, Ont., Vasquez spent the 2019 collegiate season with Northwestern State, a Division 1 school in Louisiana, before heading to the Sunflower Collegiate League with the Cheney Diamond Dawgs where he pitched mostly in relief, compiling an ERA of 0.71.

While with Northwestern, the 6-foot-5 right-hander pitched 20 innings and struck out 23 batters.

“Signing with the Majors was an easy decision,” said Vasquez. “Despite all the adversity, Roop [Chanderdat] has continued to bring top-level talent to London, making the Majors a fun team to watch, and a powerhouse in the IBL. I am thankful for the opportunity and excited to play the 2021 season with this group.”

“We are excited to add Jose Vasquez to our team for the upcoming season,” said Majors’ co-owner, manager and general manager Roop Chanderdat. “Jose is a big, young right-handed pitcher with lots of ability. He has experience pitching at the D1 level in the US and this should help him find success in the IBL.”

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
