TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed first baseman Jordan Castaldo (Toronto, Ont.).

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound, 35-year-old Castaldo graduated from Arkansas State and has made stops in Oshawa, Barrie and is now in his fourth year in his second stint with the Leafs.

Castaldo is one of the greatest hitters to ever play in the IBL. He has won MVP awards, has numerous All-Star Selections and many IBL championships. He is a career .350 hitter and his 640 hits rank sixth on the all-time IBL list. He also sits fourth on the all-time IBL list with 92 home runs and fifth with 120 doubles and 455 RBIs.

In 40 games last season, Castaldo hit .324 with seven home runs and 40 RBIs and was named a Second Team All-Star.

"Castaldo is one of the best ever,” said Leafs GM Jeff Lounsbury. “We are so happy to have him return for another year. He has added so much on and off the field and it’s fantastic that he wanted to be part of this new era of Leafs baseball.”
