TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed outfielder Anthony Buonaiuto (Toronto, Ont.).
Buonaiuto who grew up and still lives in Toronto joins the Leafs after spending the 2022 season playing for the Hamilton Cardinals.
In 2022, Buonaiuto hit .277 (18-for-65) in 21 games with two doubles and 15 RBIs. After graduating from George Brown College, he played a few seasons in Europe before returning to Ontario and making his way to the Intercounty Basbeall League.
“Anthony will play a large role in Toronto,” said Maple Leafs general manager Jeff Lounsbury. “He gives us depth, experience, and is another veteran player who will keep things light in the clubhouse. He always has a smile on his face at the park.”
“I am extremely excited to join the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 2023 season,” said Buonaiuto. “Toronto is my home, and I grew up watching and supporting this team since I was a kid. It is an honour and a dream come true to finally be a part of this team.”
