Official Welland Jackfish News Release

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish have re-signed catchers Andrew Mercier and Greg Marco for the 2021 season.

Mercier, a 5-foot-10 London, Ont., native, rejoins the Jackfish following a successful 2019 campaign that saw the veteran leading the Jackfish in RBIs with 22. This will be his fourth IBL season.

Marco, a 5-foot-10 Waterdown, Ont., native, rejoins the Fish for his fourth IBL season. In 2019, Marco recorded one double, four RBIs and two stolen bases in 20 games. Marco play college ball at North West Oklahoma.

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
