WELLAND, ONT. - The Welland Jackfish have agreed to terms with catcher Robert Mullen for the upcoming 2025 season.

Mullen, 28, returns to The Pond following an all-star season in 2024 in which he recorded a .335 average with eight doubles, seven home runs and 42 RBIs. Mullen was also named to the 1st Team All-IBL squad at catcher following the 2024 regular season.

The Panama native joined the Jackfish following a season with the London Majors in 2022 where he registered a .405 average with 14 doubles, 15 home runs and 50 RBIs.

The former Oakland A’s farmhand spent all six minor league seasons in the A’s organization, putting up a .251 career batting average and a .338 on-base percentage. In 2019, he hit 11 home runs while playing for the double-A Midland RockHounds. On defence, Mullen posted a career .977 fielding percentage and also threw out 30% of all runners.

Mullen suited up for Team Panama during the 2024 WBSC Premier 12 Tournament in Mexico this past offseason.

The Jackfish return to The Pond on Saturday, May 17 as they take on the Barrie Baycats.
