WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), have announced the signing of current Niagara University right-handed pitcher, Zach Cameron for the 2021 season.

Cameron, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound righty joins the Jackfish from the Niagara University Purple Eagles. Thus far in the Purple Eagles’ 2021 season, Cameron has recorded a 2.08 ERA with 16 strikeouts, six walks and a 2-1 record over 17 1/3 innings.

During the 2020 season, he made five appearances on the mound and picked up one win while striking out 15 in 8 2/3 innings pitched. Finishing the season with a 6.23 ERA, he was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 25.

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
