IBL's Welland Jackfish sign Cawker

WELLAND – On Tuesday, the Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), announced the signing of catcher Sam Cawker for the 2022 season.
Cawker, a 6-foot, Courtice, Ont., native joins the Jackfish following two seasons with the Durham Lords of the OCAA. In 20 games played during the 2019 season, Cawker recorded a .309 average with five doubles, two triples, and 17 RBI. He also spent a season with the Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils of the NAIA in 2016.
“Sam Cawker is a big body catcher with a plus arm, plus defence and a solid bat” said Jackfish General Manager Jason McKay. “Sam brings consistency and work ethic to the game that we require in order to be competitive in 2022.”
The Welland Jackfish Baseball Club is a member of Canada's best league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919. Yearly, it draws significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
