Official Welland Jackfish News Release

Welland – The Welland Jackfish have announced the signing of two more outfielders. Joining the team are Dennis Dei Baning and Tony Kwon.

Dei Baning, a 6-foot-1, Toronto, Ont., native, joins the Jackfish after playing his third season with the Humber Hawks of the OCAA. In 17 games during the 2019-20 season, he recorded three doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 12 RBIs with a .319 average. He was also the 2020 Welland Jackfish Home Run Derby runner-up, losing out in the finals in a tie-breaker round.

Kwon, a 6-foot-2, Toronto native who hails from Daejeon, South Korea, joins the Jackfish following joining the Seneca Sting of the OCAA. Before joining the Sting, Kwon suited up for Lake Land College where he recorded three doubles, one home run, and 13 RBIs over 23 games played in 2016.

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
