Official Welland Jackfish News Release

WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), today announced the signing of right-handed pitcher, Austin Oulds for the 2021 season.

Oulds, a 5-foot-10 native of Chatham, Ontario, joins the Jackfish following three seasons with the St. Clair College Saints. In three seasons with the Saints, Austin recorded a 1-1 record with a 1.50 ERA over six games played.

Prior to joining the Saints, Austin spent two years with the Lourdes University Gray Wolves.

“Austin provides us another solid arm in a very good pitching staff,” said Jackfish field manager Brian Essery. “He can pitch out of the pen and also provide us with a quality start when needed.”

The Welland Jackfish are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
