WELLAND, Ont. - The Welland Jackfish have signed utility player Chris Robinson (Uxbridge, Ont.).

Robinson joins the Fish following two professional seasons with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association and Schaumburg Boomers of the independent Frontier League.

Before turning pro, Robinson spent his college career with the Morehead State D1 program where he recorded a career .351 batting average with 121 RBIs and a .430 on-base percentage. He was also named All-Ohio Valley Conference by the league and College Sports Madness in 2014.

"Chris had a stellar career as a Division 1 catcher,” said Jackfish general manager Jason McKay. “He has played outfield and infield at the professional level bringing yet more versatility to the Jackfish.”

Before heading to school, Robinson was a member of the Junior National Team where he won a bronze medal at the Canada Cup.
