WELLAND – The Welland Jackfish, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), have signed right-handed pitcher Scott Gillespie for the 2022 season.

The 6-foot-3 Sherwood Park, Alta., native, joins the Jackfish following two seasons at The University of Arkansas at Monticello. Between seasons with the Weevils, Gillespie joined the Edmonton Prospects of the Western Canadian Baseball League for two seasons.

During his 2021 season with the Prospects, Scott recorded a 3.79 ERA with 52 strikeouts.

The Welland Jackfish Baseball Club is a member of the Intercounty Baseball League. The over 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
