Jay Blue: 2019 Lansing Lugnuts preliminary roster
By Jay Blue
Blue Jays from Away
2019 first-round draft pick Jordan Groshans headlines the 2019 low-A Lansing Lugnuts preliminary roster.
Starters
Injuries have taken their toll on the Lugnuts' preliminary roster with Eric Pardinho on the roster but listed as injured and so is Jose Espada, who I thought would make the club. With four "starters" remaining, I think we might see Cobi Johnson start or it could be someone like Marcus Reyes or Joey Pulido.
Josh Hiatt
Joey Murray
Josh Winckowski
Sean Wymer
Relievers
The relief corps is pretty solid with a lot of experience from Vancouver last year. I thought that Adams Cuevas would make the club and I also interested to see where Brody Rodning starts out.
Cobi Johnson
Connor Law
Will McAffer (North Vancouver, B.C.)
Mike Pascoe
Joey Pulido
Sean Rackoski
Jackson Rees
Marcus Reyes
Fitz Stadler
Catchers
My prediction was 2/3 correct in my Lansing catching corps. We're going to see Alejandro Kirk and Ryan Gold and Hagen Danner comes up to Lansing after a strong season in Bluefield last year although I was thinking we'd see Yorman Rodriguez or Christopher Bec. Javier Hernandez opens on the IL.
Infielders
I thought that recently acquired Ronny Brito would start in Lansing but the prime spot is going to Jordan Groshans.
1B: Jake Brodt
2B: Nick Podkul
SS: Jordan Groshans
3B John Aiello
UTIL: Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.)
Outfielders
My outfield predictions were pretty much on, but D.J. Neal gets a spot and Norberto Obeso isn't on the Lansing roster. Dom Abbadessa is a member of the Lugnuts to start the year while Reggie Pruitt returns and Mc Gregory Contreras is the fourth man on the list with Tanner Kirwer on the IL.
