Blue Jays from Away

With two games rained out on Tuesday, the Toronto Blue Jays' affiliates went 3-3.

Buffalo Bisons, Pawtucket Red Sox (BOS)

Game postponed due to rain.

Roster Notes: Matt Dermody was placed on the 7-day IL and David Garner was assigned to Buffalo from extended spring training.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Portland Sea Dogs (BOS)

Game postponed due to rain.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, St. Lucie Mets (NYM) 4

The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays were held to just two runs in a 4-2 loss to the St. Lucie Mets.

Maximo Castillo allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts. Emerson Jimenez finished the game, giving up a hit with one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings.

Cal Stevenson was on base three times, going 1/3 with two walks and a stolen base. Alejandro Kirk (1/4, 2B), Ryan Noda (1/4, R), Norberto Obeso (1/4, 2B), Samad Taylor (1/3, 2B, BB, RBI), Javier Hernandez (1/4) and Nick Podkul (1/4, 2B, RBI) all had a hit.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Lake County Captains (CLE) 4

The low-A Lansing Lugnuts swung back into action by beating the Lake County Captains 6-4.

Sean Wymer had a decent start, going four innings an giving up two runs on six hits with four strikeouts, turning it over to Marcus Reyes who allowed a run on three hits and a walk in three innings, striking out two. Mike Pascoe walked two in 2/3 of an inning but Cre Finfrock stranded two runners and brought it home, allowing a solo home run among two hits wtih three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings for the save.

Jake Brodt hit his ninth home run of the season, going 2/4 with the solo shot while Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 2/4 with a walk and a stolen base. Ryan Gold was 2/4 and D.J. Neal was 2/3 with a walk, two RBI and a run. John Aiello was 1/3 with a double and two runs while Gabriel Moreno was 1/4 with a triple and a run. Reggie Pruitt was 1/5 with a triple and two RBI.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Everett AquaSox (SEA) 6

The class-A Short-Season Vancouver Canadians fell to 3-9 after a 6-5 loss to the Everett AquaSox.

Trevor Schwecke was 2/4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs while Dom Abbadessa was 2/4. Cameron Eden was 1/3 with two walks, an RBI, a run and a stolen base while Tanner Morris was 1/5 with a double and an RBI. Ryan Sloniger was 1/3 with a walk, a double and an RBI while Ronny Brito was 1/3 with a walk and a run.

Nick Fraze started, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks with a strikeout in one inning of work and Andy McGuire allowed a run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout in two innings. Alex Nolan (Burlington, Ont.) had a strong outing, keeping the Canadians on top until the eighth inning, giving up the tying run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings and Luke Gillingham took the loss, allowing a run on three walks with one strikeout in one inning as the AquaSox walked it off in the ninth.

Bluefield Blue Jays 4, Danville Braves (ATL) 9

The Bluefield Blue Jays (Rookie Ball) were held to just six hits as they fell 9-4 opening their series against the Danville Braves. Miguel Hiraldo was 2/3 with a home run, an RBI and a run while Tanner Morris also went deep, going 1/4 with two RBI. Angel Camacho was 1/4 and Spencer Horwitz was 1/4 with a double and a run. Leonardo Jimenez was 1/4 as well.

Roither Hernandez allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits with two walks in just 2/3 of an inning. Meliton Reyes gave up four more runs (two earned) on four hits (including a home run) and a walk over three innings and Luis Alvarez allowed just a hit in 3 1/3 stellar innings in relief, striking out five. Kyle Huckaby gave up two runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in the last two innings.

GCL Blue Jays 3, GCL Phillies East 1

The GCL Blue Jays evened their record, beating the GCL Phillies East 3-1 on Tuesday.

Justin Maese made his first appearance since 2017, throwing a perfect first inning with one strikeout. Santos Moreno took over and continued to shut down the Phillies, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Williams Moreno got the win, however, allowing a run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout over two innings. Eliezer Bello struck out one in the ninth, earning the save.

Jhon Solarte was on base three times, going 2/3 with a walk while Orelvis Martinez was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI. Alberto Rodriguez was 1/3 with double, a sac fly and an RBI while Javier D'Orazio, Jose Rivas and Hanley Acevedo all scored a run with D'Orazio and Rivas walking and Acevedo hitting a single.

DSL Blue Jays 5, DSL White Sox 4

The DSL Blue Jays beat out the DSL White Sox 5-4 in a rain-shortened affair.

Gabriel Martinez was 2/3 with a double and three RBI, leading the offense while Junior Ramos was 2/3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Adrian Montero was 1/3 with a run and a stolen base while Amell Brazoban was 1/3 with a run while Juan Pizarro was 1/3 with a run. Gustavo Ruiz was 0/2 but drove a run with a sac fly.

Fernando Chacon kept the White Sox to just a run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in three innings and Marc Civit got the win despite allowing three runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in just one inning. Francis Mercedes got the save, allowing two hits and striking out one in 1 1/3 innings.
