Blue Jays from Away
The Blue Jays' minor leaguers went 1-3 on Thursday but the one win was an epic hammering of the Jupiter Hammerheads by the Dunedin Blue Jays.
Buffalo Bisons 7, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 8
In afternoon action, the triple-A Buffalo Bisons came up just short of the Syracuse Mets, losing 8-7 after a four-run Syracuse eighth put things away for the home side.
David Paulino started and allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings, giving up seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Conor Fisk followed, coming in with the bases loaded in the fifth and letting just one runner score, allowing two hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Javy Guerra walked one and struck out two in the seventh while Danny Barnes was tagged for four runs on two hits and two walks without retiring a batter in the eighth, taking the loss. Zach Jackson came on to relieve him, letting both inherited runners score, walking one and giving up a hit with one strikeout in one inning.
The hitters hit three home runs as a club with Lourdes Gurriel (1/4, HR, BB, 2 RBI) hitting his second of the year, Jonathan Davis (1/4, HR, BB, RBI, 2 R) hitting his first of the year and Andy Burns (1/4, HR, BB, 2 RBI) hitting his second. Cavan Biggio pushed his batting average to .418 with a 1/2 game, walking three times and driving in two runs while Jordan Patterson was 2/4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice. Reese McGuire was 2/5 with a double and Michael Cruz was 1/4.

Roster Notes: The Bisons sent lefty Danny Young down to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Bo Bichette was placed on the 7-day injured list. Jonathan Davis was officially optioned to Buffalo after being activated from the IL.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Reading Fightin Phils (PHI) 8
Yennsy Diaz had a rough start for the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats as they got behind early and never really challenged the Reading Fightin Phils, losing 8-1.
Diaz walked five in 3 1/3 innings, throwing 43 strikes in his 84 pitches and gave up four runs on four hits with four strikeouts before making way for Jonathan Cheshire. Cheshire stranded one of the two runners he inherited and gave up three more runs over 2 1/3 innings, walking one and allowing four hits. Kirby Snead surrendered a solo home run but struck out three in 1 1/3 innings and Ty Tice allowed a hit and struck out one in one inning of work.
The Fisher Cats had just one hit, a single by Forrest Wall, who was 1/3 with a walk while Nash Knight was 0/2 with two walks and Vinny Capra was 0/2 with walks and a run. Chad Spanberger drove in the only run by taking a bases loaded walk in the third inning as Santiago Espinal, Ryan Hissey and Kacy Clemens all walked once.

Dunedin Blue Jays 18, Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA) 0
The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays were firing on all cylinders as they demolished the Jupiter Hammerheads 18-0 on Thursday night.
The Blue Jays jumped into the lead with a six-run first inning and piled on over and over, getting a grand slam from Riley Adams in the fifth. The top five batters in the Blue Jays order had three hits each and Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, Ont.) added another three in the 22-hit attack. Orimooye was 3/5 with a walk, a double, four RBI and a run while Kevin Vicuna was 3/7 with an RBI and two runs. Logan Warmoth was 3/5 with a double, two walks and four runs and Cullen Large was 3/5 with a double, a walk, three RBI and three runs. Ryan Noda was 3/6 with a walk, two doubles, three RBI and three runs and Adams was 3/5 with a grand slam, four RBI and two runs. Christian Williams was 1/5 with a walk, a run and an RBI and Cal Stevenson was 2/6 with an RBI and a run. Samad Taylor was 1/4 with two walks, a double and a run.
On the mound, there was no one fiercer than Nate Pearson who was practically untouchable. He threw five innings of shutout ball, allowing only one hit and one walk with 10 strikeouts, throwing 72 pitches to pick up his first win. Turner Larkins tossed another three innings, flirting with a little bit of danger, giving up two hits and two walks with one strikeout while Connor Law finished the game, allowing a hit in the ninth.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Bowling Green Hot Rods (TB) 6
The low-A Lansing Lugnuts outhit the Bowling Green Hot Rods and tried to mount a comeback with a couple of innings left but fell short, losing 6-5 on Thursday.
Reggie Pruitt is now hitting .354 thanks to a pair of hits and he also walked, drove in a run and stole a base. D.J. Neal also had two hits, going 2/3 with a RBI and a run. Dom Abbadessa stole his first base of the season and was 1/2 with two walks and two runs. Hagen Danner (1/4, R), Jake Brodt (1/4, 2B, R), Ryan Gold (1/4) and Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) (1/5, 2B, RBI) each had a hit in a game in which the Lugnuts provided 15 of their 27 outs via the strikeout.
Fitz Stadler was the starter for the 'Nuts, giving up four runs (three earned) of four hits (including a home run) and three walks with three strikeouts in five innings while Cobi Johnson allowed two runs on three hits (including a home run) and two walks with three strikeouts in three innings.
