Blue Jays from Away
We were in Buffalo on Monday as the Bisons fell to the Pawtucket Red Sox and the rest of the organization got just two more wins including a playoff win from the DSL Blue Jays.
Buffalo Bisons 0, Rochester Red Wings 2
The Buffalo Bisons opened their final home stand of the year facing former big leaguer Kyle Kendrick and the Pawtucket Red Sox and were shut out 2-0. The Bisons were held to just four hits including a double from Michael Saunders (Victoria, B.C.) and singles from Danny Jansen, Jon Berti and Roemon Fields. The one real opportunity the Bisons had to score was when Berti hit an infield single and Fields followed it up with a hit-and-run single through the right side, Fields was then thrown out trying to steal second, taking the wind out of the Bisons' sails.
Murphy Smith took the loss, giving up a lot of hits but just two runs in five innings. Smith was throwing strikes but giving up solid contact as the Red Sox got eight hits, only cashing two runners. Chad Girodo benefitted from some great defence, getting through three innings with four hits and two strikeouts without any runs and Chris Smith struggled with his control early, walking the first batter he faced, but he finished the ninth without any further damage.
