Blue Jays from Away
With five games on the slate for Tuesday, the Blue Jays' minor league clubs won three of them in a solid day, particularly for the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Buffalo Bisons 0, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 2
The triple-A Buffalo Bisons had just three hits on a rainy night in Syracuse, losing 2-0 to the Mets.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Montreal, Que.) was 1/4 with two strikeouts while Cavan Biggio was 1/4 and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.was 1/3 in the loss. Bo Bichette, after coming out of Monday night's game, was diagnosed with a broken bone in his hand.
Jacob Waguespack took the loss but he had a solid game, giving up just a solo home run to score, allowing three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work. Conor Fisk allowed three hits in 1 1/3 innings, striking out two and Zach Jackson inherited two runners, stranding both of them but gave up an unearned run, walking one in one inning. Justin Shafer stranded the runner he inherited from Jackson, retiring both batters he saw to finish the game.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Trenton Thunder (NYY) 4
In Game 1 of their doubleheader with the Trenton Thunder, the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored six runs in the fifth inning and held on to win 6-4.
Ryan Hissey started the fifth with a single and was followed by Forrest Wall who walked. With one out, Kacy Clemens walked to load the bases and those bases were cleared the next batter by Santiago Espinal who hit a double. Espinal was followed by a Nash Knight single, a Gunnar Heidt double and a Chad Spanberger double to plate three more runs and give the Fisher Cats their 6-4 lead. Spanberger was 2/2 with a walk and two RBI while Espinal drove in three, going 1/3. Wall was 1/2 with two walks and a run while Knight was 1/2 with a walk and a run. Heidt was 1/3 with the RBI and a run and Brock Lundquist and Ryan Hissey were each 1/3. Kevin Smith was 0/4 with four strikeouts for the game.
Hector Perez had another rough start, going three innings and giving up all four Trenton runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Ty Tice was excellent, going two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out two for the win and Jake Fishman got the save, tossing two more scoreless innings, stranding a hit and two walks with a strikeout.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8, Trenton Thunder (NYY) 6
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Fisher Cats got another six-run inning, also in the fifth, to overcome a deficit. While the Trenton Thunder got four runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, the Fisher Cats scored two more in the bottom of the sixth to go ahead for good, winning 8-6 for the doubleheader sweep.
The fifth-inning rally was led off by back-to-back singles by Gunnar Heidt and Chad Spanberger and was followed by a walk by Brock Lundquist. A throwing error on a Brandon Grudzielanek bunt scored Heidt and a two-run double by Forrest Wall scored a pair more. After Kevin Smith grounded out, Nash Knight was intentionally walked and a passed ball and wild pitch scored two more runs before Alberto Mineo drove Knight home with a sac fly.
Heidt started the sixth with a walk and was brought home by Brock Lundquist's first double-A home run, giving the Fisher Cats the 8-6 lead. Lundquist was 1/2 with a walk, two RBI and two runs while Heidt was 1/1 with a walk, was hit by a pitch and he scored twice. Spanberger was 1/3 and Grudzielanek was 1/2 with a run and a double. Wall was 1/4 with two RBI on his double and Alberto Mineo was 1/2 with an RBI on the sac fly.
Tayler Saucedo started, going three innings of three-hit ball, walking two and striking out two. Francisco Rios got into trouble, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk with one strikeout in two innings and Kirby Snead got the win, despite blowing the save, allowing the runner he inherited from Rios to score and giving up an unearned run of his own. He struck out three in two innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Daytona Tortugas (CIN) 3
The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays spread out eight hits over the ball game and weren't able to score more than one run, wasting another strong pitching performance by their starter as Nick Allgeyer was stellar again in a 3-1 loss to the Daytona Tortugas.
Allgeyer lowered his ERA to 1.25 after giving up just a solo home run and one other hit without walking anyone and striking out four in six innings of work. Dany Jimenez allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk (and an error by Logan Warmoth) with two strikeouts in the seventh and Brad Wilson threw a scoreless eighth, striking out two.
Chavez Young was 2/5 with a stolen base and Christian Williams was 2/2 with two walks and a double. Norberto Obeso hit a triple, going 1/3 with a walk and a run and Riley Adams was 1/3 with a walk. Cullen Large was 1/5 with an RBI and Logan Warmoth was 1/3 with two walks.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, South Bend Cubs (CHC) 5
The low-A Lansing Lugnuts finally defeated the South Bend Cubs after they almost let the game get away in the later innings, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth to break a tie and win 6-5.
Josh Hiatt, who's been piggybacking with newly-acquired Juan De Paula, allowed just three hits in five innings, striking out three for his best outing of the year. De Paula ran into trouble, giving up five runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts in three innings, blowing a save, but picking up the win. Will McAffer got the save, striking out two in the ninth despite walking three.
The Lugnuts only scored six runs on their 15 hits including two each from Reggie Pruitt (2/4, 3B, RBI, R, SF, CS), Alejandro Kirk (2/4, 2B, BB, RBI), Ryan Gold (2/5), Jake Brodt (2/3, HR, BB, RBI, R), D.J. Neal (2/4, 2B, R, SB) and Dom Abbadessa (2/4, 3B, RBI, 2 R). For Brodt, it was his second home run consecutive games. Jordan Groshans was 1/4 with a walk, John Aiello was 1/4 and Nick Podkul was 1/3 with a walk and a run.
