Blue Jays from Away

The Blue Jays' affiliates went 2-5 on Friday.

Buffalo Bisons 2, Pawtucket Red Sox (BOS) 4

The Buffalo Bisons returned home for their final homestand of the season, falling 4-2 to the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Conor Fisk took the loss but struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings but allowed three solo home runs among six hits and one walk. Bryan Baker allowed a run on two hits and a walk but struck out three in 1 1/3 innings. Ryan Tepera pitched a scoreless eighth and Ty Tice struck out the side in the ninth, allowing one hit.

Andy Burns was 2/4 and Santiago Espinal was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a run while Roemon Fields was 1/3 with a stolen base and Jonathan Davis was 1/4 with an RBI.

Roster Notes: Travis Bergen was activated by the Buffalo Bisons and Brock Stewart was placed on the reserve list. Ryan Tepera was moved up to Buffalo to continue his rehab.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NYM) 0

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats battled it out with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, coming up with a 1-0 win in 11 innings, winning on an RBI single by Chad Spanberger.

Spanberger was 2/5 with the RBI while Logan Warmoth was on twice, going 1/3 with a walk and a double. Kevin Smith, Alberto Mineo and Vinny Capra were all 1/4.

Thomas Hatch was outstanding, going seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out four, getting 10 ground ball outs and none on fly balls. Danny Young provided two innings of scoreless relief, allowing two hits and two walks with a strikeout while Vinny Nittoli struck out three in the final two innings to pick up a win.

Roster Notes: Joey Pulido was moved up to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Vancouver while Brad Wilson was placed on the temporarily inactive list.

Dunedin Blue Jays 1, Florida Fire Frogs (ATL) 2

The Dunedin Blue Jays gave up a run in the bottom of the eighth while visiting the Florida Fire Frogs, losing 2-1.

Reggie Pruitt contributed two hits, going 2/5 with a run and a stolen base while Norberto Obeso was 2/4 with a double and an RBI. Alejandro Kirk was 1/3 with a double and a walk and Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, Ont.) and Kacy Clemens were both 1/4.

Simeon Woods Richardson had another solid start, allowing just one run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings, throwing 74 pitches. Sean Rackoski stranded two inherited runners, pitching 2 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing two hits and striking out three. Jackson Rees took the loss, giving up a run on a solo home run in the eighth.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, South Bend Cubs (CHC) 4

The Lansing Lugnuts rallied for two runs in the top of the 10th, only giving up one in the bottom half to come away with a 5-4 victory over the South Bend Cubs.

Otto Lopez had four of the Lugnuts' 14 hits, going 4/6 with a double, a triple and two RBI. Yorman Rodriguez had three hits, going 3/5 with a double and an RBI while L.J. Talley was 3/5 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Griffin Conine was 1/3 with a double and two walks while John Aiello was 1/4 with a walk and a run. Gabriel Moreno was 1/5 with a double and Rafael Lantigua was 1/5.

On the mound, Sean Wymer went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts and Will McAffer tossed three scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out three. Brody Rodning allowed an unearned run, getting the win, and giving up a hit in one-plus innings, before Cre Finfrock came on to allow just a hit and strike out two in one inning to earn the save.

Roster Notes: D.J. Neal was placed on the injured list while Ronny Brito was promoted to Lansing from Vancouver.

Vancouver Canadians 1, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (SF) 4

The Vancouver Canadians opened their series with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes with a loss, falling 4-1.

The C's had five hits including a double from Luis de Los Santos (1/2) (who was also hit by a pitch) and two singles from Will Robertson who was 2/3 with a walk and a run. Mc Gregory Contreras and Cameron Eden were 1/4 and Trevor Schwecke was 0/2 with an RBI on a sac fly.

Gabriel Ponce tossed three innings, allowing a run on five hits (including a home run) with two walks and four strikeouts. Jared DiCesare allowed three runs on five hits (including a home run) with a walk and two strikeouts in four innings while Josh Almonte allowed a walk and struck out one in the eighth and Gage Burland allowed two walks and struck out two in the ninth.

Roster Notes: Joey Pulido was sent to New Hampshire and Ronny Brito was sent to Lansing.

Bluefield Blue Jays 5, Kingsport Mets (NYM) 8

The Bluefield Blue Jays fell again to the Kingsport Mets, losing 8-5, after falling back form the high of winning the Mercer Cup on Thursday.

For the second time in three games, Justin Ammons had three doubles, going 4/5 with three runs and pushed his average to .407 in 21 games with the Bluefield Blue Jays. Leonardo Jimenez was 3/5 with a run and Davis Schneider was 2/5 with an RBI and a run. Patrick Morris was 1/4 with two RBI and a walk while D.J. Daniels was 1/4 with an RBI. Anthony Morales (1/4, BB) and Steward Berroa (1/5) each had a hit and Joseph Reyes was 0/3 with two walks.

Alejandro Melean only lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks with a hit batter and two strikeouts. Aldo Ovando went 1 1/3 innings, allowing three more runs on four hits and a walk while Naswell Paulino allowed two runs on four hits (including a home run) and three walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Yunior Hinojosa allowed a hit and struck out one in 1 1/3 innings.

GCL Blue Jays 4, GCL Phillies West 7

The GCL Blue Jays fell 7-4 to the GCL Phillies West as the bullpen couldn't keep the Phillies off the board.

Kendall Williams was on the mound to start, giving up just a run on a hit and a walk with a wild pitch, striking out three in four innings. Jackxarel Lebron took the loss, allowing three hits and three walks and all six runners came around to score without him getting an out. Juanfer Castro didn't allow any runs of his own but allowed both inherited runners to score, giving up two hits and striking out three in three innings. Williams Moreno finished the game, tossing the last two innings, allowing two hits, hitting a batter and striking out two.

Yhon Perez had the only extra-base hit, going 1/4 with a double, two RBI and a walk and was caught stealing. Javier D'Orazio was 2/4 while Pedro Hurtado was 1/3 with a walk and a run. Jose Zepeda was 1/5 with an RBI and Alberto Rodriguez was 1/3 with a run and a stolen base. Erickvi Celedonio was on twice with two walks and two runs, adding a stolen base. Rainer Nunez was 0/2 but walked and drove in a run with a sac fly.
