The Blue Jays' organization won just two of seven games on August 1, but there was some good news as a highly-touted pitcher returned to Lansing.

Buffalo Bisons 1, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5

Chris Rowley started the game with five scoreless innings, but a three-run home run in the sixth gave the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders all of the runs they needed to defeat the Buffalo Bisons 3-1. Rowley pitched with runners on most innings through the first five but was burned in the sixth after giving up two singles followed by a home run before getting an out. He finished the inning but his final line stood at six innings, eight hits, three runs, two walks and four strikeouts. Jeff Beliveau allowed two more runs in the seventh and Leonel Campos finished the game by striking out the side around a walk in the eighth.

The Bisons had six hits including two from Rowdy Tellez who was 2/4, bringing his average back above the Mendoza Line to .203. Dwight Smith Jr. had a double for the club's only extra-base hit while Jon Berti was 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base and Roemon Fields was 1/4 with a stolen base.

Roster Notes: Teoscar Hernandez was activated by the Buffalo Bisons and Christian Lopes was activated off the DL.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Bowie BaySox 6

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (43-65) couldn't get the bats going in a 6-0 loss to the Bowie BaySox. The club combined for six hits (one single each from the top six starters in the lineup) and Anthony Alford left the game after one at bat.

Sean Reid-Foley gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits with just two strikeouts in seven innings and Shane Dawson (Drayton Valley, Alta.) came out of the bullpen to give up a run on three hits and a walk in two innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Florida Fire Frogs 1

The Dunedin Blue Jays continued their dominance over the Florida Fire Frogs with a well-played, 4-1 victory on Tuesday. Tayler Saucedo had possibly his best start of his career, striking out eight batters over six innings and gave up just one run on seven hits and one walk. Daniel Lietz walked two but didn't allow a run in his inning and Kirby Snead finished the game, walking one and striking out two in two innings for the save.

The offence had just five hits with Bo Bichette once again leading the way. Bichette was 2/3 with a walk, a double, an RBI and two runs, raising his batting average to .410. Cavan Biggio was on twice with a single and a walk and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1/4 with an RBI.

Lansing Lugnuts 1, Great Lakes Loons 5

The Lansing Lugnuts had an epic collapse, allowing five runs in the top of the ninth inning and squandered an excellent start from Patrick Murphy in a 5-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons. In his return from injury, Patrick Murphy tossed five scoreless innings, giving up just five hits and striking out six batters. Andrew Deramo followed with two scoreless innings, scattering two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Connor Eller got the through the eighth alright but allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth while Juliandry Higuera finished the inning, getting the last two outs but allowing three more runs in addition to the two inherited runners he allowed to score.

The Lugs had just three hits, one each from J.B. Woodman, Yeltsin Gudino and Javier Hernandez.

Roster Notes: Patrick Murphy was activated off the DL and Yonardo Herdenez was sent down to Vancouver.

Bluefield Blue Jays 3, Princeton Rays 0

The Bluefield Blue Jays (27-12) beat the Princeton Rays again, shutting them out with some excellent pitching in a 3-0 win. Maximo Castillo was excellent, giving up just two hits and two walks in five innings, striking out seven despite getting a no-decision. Marcus Reyes tossed three innings and was around for the win, allowing two hits and striking out one. Ty Tice picked up his seventh save with a scoreless ninth.

Ryan Gold had three of the Blue Jays' six hits, going 3/4 with a double and an RBI. McGregory Contreras left the game after two at bats and his replacement, Francisco Rodriguez, was 1/2 with an RBI. Ryan Noda was 0/1 with two walks and a run and Brandon Grudzielanek also walked twice and scored.

GCL Blue Jays 2, GCL Phillies 10

The GCL Blue Jays were clobbered by the GCL Phillies at their Clearwater complex, losing 10-2. The bright spot in the loss was D.J. Neal's 4/4 game that included his second home run of the year.

T.J. Zeuch made a rehab appearance, tossing 1 1/3 innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk with one strikeout. Juan Meza finished the second, stranding a runner and striking one out. Mike Estevez got off to a rough start in the third inning and ended up getting charged for two runs on two hits (including a home run) and one walk. Danilo Manzueta finished the inning, getting two outs, giving up a hit, allowing one of two inherited runners to score and striking out one. Claudio Galva accumulated three innings in relief, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with one strikeout. Emerson Jimenez, a minor league free agent who had reached double-A in the Rockies' organization as a shortstop and signed last week to begin his conversion to pitching, made his debut on the mound, throwing one scoreless inning, striking out one. Brennan Price gave up four runs on three walks and a home run in 1/3 of an inning and Emmanuel Reyes finished the game with 2/3 of an inning.

Roster Notes: Travis Hosterman was promoted to Bluefield and T.J. Zeuch was assigned to the GCL to start his rehab.

DSL Blue Jays 3, DSL Reds 4

The DSL Blue Jays fell to the DSL Reds 4-3 in 10 innings on Tuesday. Steward Berroa was 2/5 with a run and was caught stealing while Yhon Perez was 2/5 with a run and Yeison Estevez was 2/4 with an RBI. Hugo Cardona walked twice and stole a base.

Naswell Paulino gave up one run over his five innings but it was unearned as he allowed four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Jhon Victorino went three strong innings, giving up just one hit and striking out two. Yunior Hinojosa allowed three runs over 1 2/3 innings but all three runs were unearned.
