Blue Jays from Away

Because of weather, there were only two Blue Jays minor league teams in action on Tuesday with both of them winning handily.

Buffalo Bisons, Lehigh Valley IronPigs

Lansing Lugnuts 8, Dayton Dragons 2

Mike Ellenbest took to the hill and led the Lansing Lugnuts to an 8-2 victory over the Dayton Dragons to open their series. Ellenbest had his second strong start in a row, going six innings and giving up just two runs despite walking four and allowing five hits, while striking out four. Tayler Saucedo pitched the seventh and eighth and walked two and allowed two hits with two strikeouts and Connor Eller pitched a clean ninth to cap the win.

J.B. Woodman had an excellent game, hitting two doubles as part of a 3/5 night with a run and two stolen bases. Rodrigo Orozco was on base twice, going 1/4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice while Bo Bichette and Christian Williams were also 1/4 with a double and a walk. Yeltsin Gudino was 2/3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs. Edward Olivares hit the only home run of the game, going 1/4 with two RBI and Vladimir Guerrero (Montreal, Que.) was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI.

DSL Blue Jays 10, DSL Giants 2

The DSL Blue Jays are looking like a powerhouse early in the season as they pummelled the DSL Giants 10-2. Emanuel Vizcaino started and gave up both runs early, tossing three innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Juan Diaz got the win, throwing two innings and giving up three hits and a walk with one strikeout. Geremy Jimenez, Nicolas Medina, Jhon Victorino and Juan Jimenez each threw an inning to finish the game.

Hector Guerrero had two hits, going 2/3 with two runs while Leonicio Ventura, Victor Figuereo, Yhon Perez and Rafael Lantigua each had a hit and a walk. Yeison Estevez and Andres Martinez each drove in two runs with one hit in five at bats.
