The New Hampshire Fisher Cats won to take a commanding lead of their best-of-five series against the Yankees' double-A affiliate the Trenton Thunder while the Lansing Lugnuts were eliminated from their best-of-three series against the Tampa Bay Rays' affiliates Bowling Green Hot Rods.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 10, Trenton Thunder 4

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats dominated the Trenton Thunder for the second straight game, never relinquishing the lead after getting down 1-0 in the top of the first inning but getting three in the bottom, going on to a 10-4 lead to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

It was August's Eastern League Player of the Month, Max Pentecost, who gave the Fisher Cats their initial lead, hitting a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and and he would add a walk later in the game. Bo Bichette was in a groove, going 3/3 with a walk and a stolen base, scoring four times on the day while Eastern League batting champ Harold Ramirez was 3/4 with a triple, a walk, two RBI and two runs. Cavan Biggio was 1/3 with two walks, two RBI and a run, adding his second stolen base of the series and Joshua Palacios drove in three runs iwth a triple, going 1/4. Santiago Espinal, Gunnar Heidt and Forrest Wall each had a hit.

Hector Perez ran into trouble early, surrendering two home runs among six hits in 3 1/3 innings and was charged with three runs with two walks and three strikeouts. Tayler Saucedo put out the fire, holding the Thunder to just one hit and one walk in 3 2/3 innings, striking out two and Zach Jackson allowed a hit and a walk in 1/3 of an inning. Danny Young got the save, giving up two hits and a run but stranding two runners, striking out one in 1 2/3 innings.

Lansing Lugnuts 3, Bowling Green Hot Rods 4

The low-A Lansing Lugnuts played just nine innings on Thursday but couldn't change the result, losing 4-3 to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, getting eliminated from the playoffs by getting swept in the best-of-three series. Samad Taylor was 2/4 with a double and a run while Ryan Noda was 1/3 with an RBI on a sac fly and a run. Brandon Grudzielanek also drove in a run, going 1/4 and Vinny Capra was 1/3 with an RBI but was caught stealing. Reggie Pruitt was 1/3 with a stolen base and Norberto Obeso was 1/4 with a run.

Graham Spraker had a solid start, giving up three runs on six hits (including a two-run home run in the fourth) and one walk with three strikeouts over seven innings. Brayden Bouchey (White Rock, BC) was charged with an unearned run on two walks with one strikeout in the eighth.
