Without a Buffalo Bisons win against the Columbus Clippers, the Blue Jays’ minor league affiliates wouldn’t have won a game on Friday night.

Buffalo Bisons 9, Columbus Clippers 3
The Bisons continue their run of excellent play, finding their bats in a 9-3 beating on the Clippers. While the Clippers got a home run from former Blue Jay (and Bison) Chris Colabello, they responded with 13 hits and a home run of their own from Mike Ohlman. Ohlman added a walk to his blast and drove in two runs while Christian Lopes was 2/3 with a walk and two RBI, Gregorio Petit was 2/4 with an RBI and Jason Leblebijian was 2/3 with two doubles, two RBI, a walk and two runs. Rowdy Tellez returned to the hit column, going 1/4 with a walk and two runs.

Starter Mike Bolsinger went three innings, needing 60 pitches, and just giving up one hit and two walks with five strikeouts in the start. Matt Dermody followed, but gave up three runs on six hits (including a home run) in 1 1/3 innings. Murphy Smith picked up his second win with the Bisons, stranding the two runners he inherited and allowing three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Chad Girodo gave up three hits and a walk over the last three innings to earn a save, striking out three batters.

Player of the Game: Jason Leblebijian, Christian Lopes and Mike Ohlman

Roster Notes: Mat Latos had his contract purchased by the Blue Jays.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Hartford Yard Goats 5
Despite a ninth-inning rally to tie to game, the Fisher Cats dropped their Friday night game to the Yard Goats 5-4 in 11 innings. 2015 first-round draft pick Jon Harris had a strong start, going six innings and giving up two runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts before making way for Chris Rowley. Rowley gave up two runs in two innings, allowing three hits and no walks with two strikeouts in blowing the save. Carlos Ramirez provided an inning of scoreless ball, striking out two before Alonzo Gonzalez came in for the 10th and beginning of the 11th. After a 1-2-3 10th inning, Gonzalez walked the first two batters of the 11th and made a throwing error on a sac bunt attempt, allowing a run to score. Dusty Isaacs struck out the next two batters to finish the inning.

Harold Ramirez had his best game as a Fisher Cats, going 3/4 with a walk, a run, an RBI and an outfield assist and Tim Lopes was 2/5 with a walk. Reese McGuire was also 2/5, hitting a triple and driving in a run. Gunnar Heidt was on twice, going 1/4 with a double, a walk and two runs.

Dunedin Blue Jays 4, Fort Myers Miracle 10
A five-run third inning was all the Miracle needed to defeat Dunedin 10-4 to open their series. Conor Fisk got the start for the Blue Jays, allowing six runs in five innings on seven hits and a walk, striking out five to take the loss. Connor Eller allowed a run on a hit and a walk in two innings while Josh DeGraaf was the only Blue Jays pitcher to emerge without surrendering a run, tossing a scoreless eighth. Tom Robson had the ninth and gave up three runs on four hits and a walk.

Cavan Biggio led the offense with three hits in five at bats and Danny Jansen was also on base three times, going 2/3 with his first extra-base hit of the season, a double, and adding a walk. Deiferson Barreto, playing third base was 2/4 with an RBI. Lane Thomas was the only Blue Jay to hit a home run, launching a solo shot in the fourth inning and adding a walk.

Player of the Game: Cavan Biggio and Danny Jansen

Lansing Lugnuts 2, Bowling Green Hot Rods 5
The Lugnuts sent Tayler Saucedo to the hill to start against the Hot Rods and started a trend in which the Hot Rods scored in each of the first four innings on their way to a 6-2 win over the Lugnuts. Saucedo only allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while Griffin Glaude gave up a run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings, striking out three. Kirby Snead tossed multiple innings too, giving up a run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Philip Walby finished the game with 2/3 of an inning, allowing a hit and striking out one.

The Lugnuts’ bats were quiet without Bo Bichette, who hasn’t played in several games. J.B. Woodman was 2/4 and Christian Williams was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI. Bradley Jones hit a double and Josh Palacios was 1/3 with a triple and a walk.

Roster Notes: Osman Gutierrez was placed on the 7-day DL.
