Some days you lose one and you tie one as the Blue Jays split their squad getting a 1-1 tie with the Pittsburgh Pirates at home and a 4-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on the road.

At home, Aaron Sanchez made his spring debut with two strong innings, giving up a walk and striking out one. Sanchez had a 1-2-3 inning in the second thanks to catcher Luke Maile throwing out Bryan Reynolds after Sanchez had walked him on four pitches.

Clayton Richard followed to make his spring debut, allowing a hit and a walk in two innings. David Paulino, Javy Guerra, Shawn Morimando and Mark Leiter Jr. all threw a scoreless inning each with Leiter striking out the side and Joe Biagini gave up the only run after giving up a double to Patrick Kivlehan and having a throwing error by Richard Urena fail to get the third out and allow Kivlehan to score.

The Blue Jays scattered six hits with Logan Warmoth going 1/1 with a solo home run for the Jays. Eric Sogard, Luke Maile, Chavez Young, Kevin Pillar and Freddy Galvis also had hits with Sogard and Pillar each hitting a double.

Against the Braves, Sean Reid-Foley started, giving up two runs on two hits and two walks in three innings before Justin Shafer threw a scoreless fourth. Patrick Murphy continued to struggle with his control, walking two and giving up three hits in two innings while Jacob Waguespack allowed a hit and struck out one in the seventh. Hector Perez got through the eighth in short order but gave up the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to take the loss.

The Jays had 10 hits with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Jonathan Davis hitting solo home runs. Cavan Biggio was 1/4 with a double and Andrew Guillotte, Danny Jansen, Kendrys Morales and Roemon Fields added singles while Teoscar Hernandez was 2/3.
